Jeff Horwitz joined Deutsch, Levy & Engel’s transaction department in 2002 and has been a Principal with the firm since 2010. Jeff concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, commercial development, acquisitions and dispositions and business law.
Jeff's experience includes representation of real estate investment funds, banks and governmental lenders in real estate based financing transactions, including construction loans, first mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and other structured financings and workouts, together with representation of equity and managing partners in real estate joint ventures. In addition, Jeff's experience includes the formation and representation of numerous corporate clients. Jeff currently serves as special real estate counsel to the Illinois Housing Development Authority. Prior to joining Deutsch, Levy & Engel, Jeff was employed as an Accountant for Old World Industries, Inc., located in Northbrook, Illinois.

Representation of real estate investment fund in connection with numerous first-mortgage construction loans in an aggregate amount in excess of $675 million to finance residential, commercial and mixed-use developments throughout the United States, including developments in Illinois, Michigan, California and Hawaii.
Representation of mezzanine Lender in connection with numerous construction loans and joint venture real estate transactions in an aggregate amount in excess of $130 million to finance residential, commercial and mixed-use developments throughout the United States, including developments in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Massachusetts and New Mexico.
Representation of Lender in connection with negotiation and preparation of voluntary Deed in Lieu of foreclosure of first-position construction loan secured by 90+ unit residential condominium project located in Evanston, Illinois.
Representation of the Illinois Housing Development Authority in connection with the development and implementation of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and the closing of individual acquisition and construction grants.
