Kenneth Funk was licensed in 1982, joined Deutsch, Levy & Engel, Chartered in 1985 and has been a Principal with the firm since 1993. He concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and environmental law.Ken's experience in real estate law covers all areas of commercial, industrial and residential real estate. He advises clients on matters including pre-acquisition due diligence assessment matters such as zoning, access, utility facility, taxation, tax increment financing, re-development agreements, platting, environmental site assessments, wetland delineations and permitting, soil assessments and construction permitting; the negotiation and documentation of purchase agreements, construction, mezzanine and "end loan" financing, construction contracts, leases, sales agreements and tax free exchanges.
Ken is counsel to several real estate investment funds, including: Workers Retail Trust, L.P., Workers Realty Trust II, L.P., LongView Ultra Construction Loan Investment Fund and Valor Realty Fund I, L.P. He is special real estate counsel to the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
His experience in environmental law includes counseling clients on regulatory compliance and litigation. Ken has practiced before Federal, State and Municipal Environmental Agencies. He serves as Special Assistant Attorney General to the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and is special counsel to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago with regard to environmental compliance litigation.
