Professional Bio

Leo G. Aubel joined Deutsch, Levy & Engel as a Principal in 2004. His practice emphasizes real estate transactions, financing and leasing involving commercial and residential properties, including office buildings, condominiums, industrial space, strip malls, medical facilities and residential and multi-unit properties. Mr. Aubel's diverse clientele includes major Chicago bank trust departments, developers, condominium associations, landlords, mortgage brokers, real estate agents and estates. His individual clients are generally engaged in professional or entrepreneurial endeavors, and he represents many attorneys and real estate industry leaders.

Mr. Aubel is also a noted practitioner in the fields of probate administration and guardianship of disabled adults. He is regularly appointed by the courts to handle complex guardianship matters, especially those involving real estate litigation. He has lectured frequently on guardianship law, most recently at the Chicago Bar Association and at seminars sponsored by the City of Chicago and LaSalle Bank.

Mr. Aubel's work also encompasses the formation of limited liability companies and other entities for the purposes of investing in real estate, and he has been the author or co-author of numerous published articles on the state and federal securities laws which pertain to these types of investments. While serving as Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association's Corporation and Securities Law Section Council, he was co-author of the current Illinois Securities Regulations. Mr. Aubel holds an Illinois real estate broker's license. He is a life member of MENSA, as well as the American and Chicago Bar Associations.
