Paul Levy is a founder of the firm and is now of counsel. As a litigator, Mr. Levy concentrates his practice in the areas of libel, commercial speech, intellectual property and commercial litigation. He has also lectured and published extensively regarding libel, defamation and privacy issues.
On behalf of the outdoor advertising industry, Mr. Levy and partners Phillip Zisook and Brian Saucier successfully challenged the constitutionality of a City of Chicago Ordinance restricting commercial speech. He was also successful in establishing a precedent in the United States Circuit Court of Appeals against the National Basketball Association, where the court held that sports statistics were not the property of the NBA but in the public domain and outside the scope of copyright protection.
On behalf of the firm's publishing clients, Mr. Levy has successfully defended defamation actions brought by Frank Sinatra, Judith Exner, Heather Thomas and other celebrities. He has also successfully pursued defamation actions on behalf of Johnny Carson and Keith Van Horne.
