Karen Kavanagh Mack’s joined Deutsch, Levy & Engel, Chartered in 2000 and became a Principal in 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Karen was a staff attorney and hearing officer for the Illinois Pollution Control Board. She focuses her practice in the areas of environmental, land use and eminent domain law, which includes both litigation and general compliance counseling to public and private entities. Karen has also been appointed a Special Assistant Attorney General to represent various state agencies on environmental and eminent domain issues.
Her background includes serving as an instructor of Appellate Advocacy at Loyola University Law School. During law school, Karen was a member of the National Moot Court Team and a legal writing teaching instructor. She was also the recipient of several writing competition awards and the law school's "Leadership and Service" Award.
