Phillip J. Zisook
Phil Zisook concentrates his practice in defamation, privacy, First Amendment, and commercial litigation. As a commercial litigator, Phil represents clients in cases involving employment law, contracts, negligent supervision claims, covenants not to compete, fraud, and business torts. He represents clients in state and federal courts, in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and in trials and appeals.
Phil has also represented television networks and content providers in copyright and trademark infringement cases involving the piracy of television content on the internet, and has secured temporary, preliminary, and permanent injunctions in those cases.
In defamation and privacy cases, Phil has represented physicians, professional athletes, and labor leaders, in addition to not-for-profit corporations, religious leaders, attorneys, authors, and media entities. Phil also advises and advocates on behalf of businesses and individuals in matters involving anonymous internet posts and has successfully litigated these cases to discover the identities of the responsible parties and obtain relief for clients.
Phil is recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer in media and advertising law, and as an Illinois Leading Lawyer in media and advertising law and commercial litigation. Less than 5% of licensed attorneys in the State are selected as Super Lawyers and Leading Lawyers. In 2018, Phil was also recognized by Leading Lawyers as one of the Top Ten Media Lawyers in Illinois. Phil is the co-chair of the firm’s litigation department.
